The Dyrrah City football academy has begun its first football season, with children and young people from various age groups enrolling. At the special ceremony that preceded the training sessions, this time on the steps of the "Olympic Park" sports facility, dozens of children and parents were present to see the project up close and speak with some of the specialized coaches for the younger age groups, coaches carrying the experience accumulated at an elite club like Manchester City.
This new academy has officially opened the football season, with training sessions now being run by coaches from the Citizens’ club. The Manchester City Football School is an investment added to the city of Durrës, laying the foundation for football talent from Albania and the region.
The latest session was attended by 50 children led by head coach Klevis Dalipi, alongside other names from Albanian football such as Albano Doraci, Eglant Haxho, Emirjeta Ndoci, Alaudin Kurushi, and former Albanian national team goalkeeper Isli Hidi. With the unconditional support of Durrës Yacht Marina, the academy awarded 17 scholarships to the children present.
The presence of Jorgina Busquets, Managing Director of Football in the Community education under City’s umbrella, as well as the encouraging words of the Mayor of Durrës, show the serious commitment to this project in the coastal city, which is moving the government’s and the Ministry of Education and Sport’s initiative to another level.
This "Dyrrah City Football Academy" initiative also contributes to further promoting the coastal city as a tourist, cultural, and sports destination, and as a platform for the city’s economic development.
